This weekend, the heart of BVB International Academy’s player development pathway beats in the desert. From October 10–12, the School of Excellence (SOE) West Regional Event 2025 brings together top players from across the western United States for three days of high-level training, evaluation, and competition at the Kino Sports Complex – North in Tucson, Arizona.
A Gathering of BVB Excellence
Hosted by BVB International Academy Arizona, the event is designed to identify the next wave of players ready to take the step toward the SOE National Event in December. This coming weekend, boys in the 2010–2015 age groups will experience a professional-style environment modeled after Borussia Dortmund’s world-class academy system
Each player will participate in:
- Diagnostic testing
- Two technical training sessions
- Two scrimmage matches
Goalkeepers will also take part in dedicated sessions each day, ensuring comprehensive evaluation across all positions
What to Expect
The event begins Friday evening with check-in and opening sessions. Saturday will feature a full day of training and competitive matches under the Arizona sun, culminating in Sunday’s scrimmages and final evaluations. Throughout the weekend, players will be observed by BVBIA staff and selectors, with a focus on identifying those who best represent the BVB way — technically sharp, mentally tough, and passionate about the game.
Players will receive their diagnostic testing results within three weeks, and selection notifications for the National Event will be sent out two weeks prior to December’s showcase
Representing the Black and Yellow
Each player will receive a Regional SOE shirt at check-in and should come prepared with all official BVBIA kits:
- Gray practice kit
- Black match kit
- Yellow match kit
Families traveling from out of town are encouraged to stay in Tucson, Sahuarita, or Green Valley, with transportation and lodging arranged independently
Building the Future, One Region at a Time
The School of Excellence program is at the core of BVB International Academy’s mission — to provide young athletes the same elite pathway used by Borussia Dortmund’s academy in Germany. Regional events like this one allow our coaching and scouting staff to connect directly with players from across the network and continue building a unified standard of excellence across North America.
This weekend is more than just an identification event — it’s an opportunity for players to experience what it means to wear the black and yellow crest, to compete with intensity, and to embody Borussia Dortmund’s values of being Ambitious, Powerful, Responsible, and Real.
We can’t wait to see our players take the field in Tucson.
Heja BVB!
